How Do You Stain a Concrete Floor?
Acid stains come in liquid form. They are a mix of hydrochloric acid, metallic salts and water. Coloring becomes part of the concrete.
The acid open the pores of the concrete surface allowing acid soluble metallic salts to react with the lime in concrete.
This is very different than paints or coatings which cover the concrete.
The natural variation of concrete is exposed. Once the acid stains are applied, a seal coat is sprayed and rolled on the surface. The final seal coats are what make the floor pop exposing the beauty of the floor.
